dr hab. Agnieszka Fihel

She completed MA studies in economics and in sociology at University of Warsaw. In March 2009 she defended her PhD thesis “Sex and duration of life. Demographic analysis” concerned with mortality and longevity of men and women in a historical perspective. In 2009 she was awarded a stipend for young researchers granted by Foundation for Polish Science. In 2009 and 2011 she stayed as a post-doc at the Institut National d’études Démographiques (INED) in Paris. Currently employed in the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw. She is a demographer. Her research interests include contemporary population phenomena, such as international migration to and from Poland and mortality patterns in countries of post-communist transition. She has published mostly on international migration from new EU member states.
