The Laboratory of Urban and Regional Migration Policies

The Laboratory of Urban and Regional Migration Policies at the CMR UW is a cross-unit group at the Centre of Migration Research that explores and disseminates the research results on migration and integration in cities and regions. We analyse policies and programs designed and implemented by public and civil society institutions that target people with migration experience in cities and regions in Poland, Europe and beyond.

The Laboratory of Urban and Regional Migration Policies, established in September 2022, is coordinated by Marta Pachocka and Karolina Łukasiewicz. Its scope of activities includes:

  • conducting research projects focused on local-level migration policies,
  • cooperating with local governments and other organisations (e.g. NGOs and migrant-led organisations) on migration and integration (e.g. Union of Polish Metropolises, the Warsaw City Hall),
  • establishing new forms of cooperation with local administration, civil society and other institutions engaged in local-level migration governance
  • supporting grant applications regarding local-level migration governance at the CMR, including inquiries, tenders, expert opinions,
  • organising seminars/webinars on migration and cities, including the CMR Webinars series on “Cities and migration: managing the crisis” (https://www.youtube.com/@centreofmigrationresearch7081)
