Abstract

This working paper aims to present the key results of the survey of Ukrainian migrants in Poland (both pre-war and post-war migrants) conducted in 2026 within the programme Between Ukraine and Poland at the Centre of Migration Research and Centre of Excellence in Social Sciences, University of Warsaw. In this sense, it presents findings of interest to policymakers and actors in the migration sphere. First, it presents facts related to future plans in Poland of the respondents, revealing that Ukrainians continue to shift their long-term orientations towards Poland and away from Ukraine. Secondly, it reveals that the legal status of most Ukrainians in Poland remains in a state of temporariness, which given the looming cancellation of protective status necessitates a rapid shift towards more permanent legal documents. Third, it underscores the continued, and increasingly, successful outcomes in the Polish labour market, although over-skilling still remains a problem. Finally, it highlights that the well-being of Ukrainians in Poland, while not inherently negative, is still important, as rates of homesickness are substantial, and there are not an insignificant number of Ukrainians needing psychological and emotional support. This working paper finishes with relevant and actionable policy suggestions.
