In this issue of CMR Spotlight, Karolina Nikielska-Sekuła presents her research on the cultural heritage participation patterns of Polish migrants in Norway
and Ukrainian migrants in Poland. As she has found, a strong cultural policy addressing migrants may induce a unification of cultural heritage participation patterns, as happened for the Poles in Norway, while a weaker cultural policy differentiates patterns of cultural heritage participation among migrants, allowing for a greater impact of their individual backgrounds and personal orientations. Not realising heritage’s potential in this matter is a wasted opportunity to shape preferred ways of migrants’ inclusion.
How do migrants engage with cultural heritage in their new country?
