This issue of Spotlight serves multiple purposes. Most notably, it is released in deliberate alignment with the worldwide celebrations of International Roma Day on April 8th – a day dedicated to honouring and appreciating Roma culture(s) while also raising awareness of the persistent challenges Roma communities face. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the
day's establishment, making it a special occasion.
Building on this significant occasion, this issue features insights from ethnographic research of ROCIT team members in Poland, Ukraine, and Germany, exploring collective accommodation centers, education, transnational families and resilience, the precarious status of Ukrainian Roma under temporary protection regimes, and the broader dynamics of unequal citizenship and migratory encounters
