Willem Schinkel is professor of social theory at Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He was the principal investigator of the ERC project Monitoring Modernity, which focused on the ways society is imagined in the monitoring of flows of migrants, flows of capital and climate change. He is the author of Imagined Societies. A Critique of Immigrant Integration in Western Europe (Cambridge University Press, 2017).
