Joanna Matejko Award 2021

15. December 2021 In accordance with § 4 point 2 of the Regulations, the organisers of the Joanna Matejko Competition have decided not to award the prize in the current edition.

15. June 2021 The Foundation announces the next edition of the Joanna Matejko Competition for the best master’s thesis on the topic of international migration from and to Poland and the Polish diaspora. The deadline for submitting applications is prolonged to 30.11.2021.

The aim of the competition is to support researchers on the subject of international migration from and to Poland and the Polish diaspora, who are at the initial stage of their academic career, and to promote the results of their scientific work.

The competition prizes were sponsored by Agnieszka Matejko, the daughter of Polish historian and activist Dr. Joanna Matejko, who researched the history of the Polish diaspora in Canada and the country’s immigration policy.

The competition is held under the patronage of the Committee on Migration Research of Polish Academy of Sciences, which in its activities undertakes interdisciplinary issues of international migration processes, with particular emphasis on migration experienced by Poland, both emigration and immigration.
