The Center of Migration Research and the Center of Excellence in Social Sciences of the University of Warsaw – the organizers of the 20th Annual Conference of the International Migration Research Network (IMISCOE) – which will take place on July 3-6, 2023, are looking for volunteers who would like to support the organization of the largest European migration conference.
We are looking for persons/volunteers who:
– study at the first, second or third degree of studies, both full-time and part-time, at Warsaw universities
– speak English at least on a communicative level – B1 (knowledge of other languages is welcome)
– are able to engage in volunteering activities for at least 30 hours in the period June 5 – July 12, 2023 (we expect the greatest time load on June 28 – July 7, 2023).
Due to the size/scale/importance of the conference (we expect up to 1,000 participants), we need volunteers who will be responsible for various tasks before, during and after the conference. Below is a list of tasks that volunteers can potentially engage in:
– office and administrative assistance
– preparation of welcome packages for guests
– preparation of the space where the conference will take place (e.g. preparing the rooms, preparing the reception desk)
– support for conference participants (e.g. reception desk, around conference spaces)
– technical support for conference participants (e.g. checking equipment, starting online sessions, technical support during presentations)
– support in organizing and conducting additional events (e.g. study visits or city tours)
– documenting the conference (e.g. taking photos)
– support in organizing the conference venue after the event
What we offer as part of volunteer cooperation:
– signing a volunteering agreement in the period June 5 – July 12, 2023 (possibility of signing a contract for a longer period)
– free of charge passive participation in the conference (that is without an active role as a speaker, moderator etc.)
– certificate confirming involvement in the organization of the conference (the possibility of completing student internships, depending on the requirements at each university)
– the opportunity to acquire knowledge, experience and competences related to the management and promotion of an international project
– the possibility of networking in the environment of outstanding migration researchers from Europe and the world
