dr Kseniya Homel-Ficenes

Sociologist, graduate of the Institute of International Relations and the Institute of Social Prevention and Resocialization at the University of Warsaw. In 2025, she obtained her PhD at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences, University of Warsaw.

Her research interests focus on entrepreneurship among people with migration experience — particularly women — as well as the functioning of support networks and forms of self-organization in areas lacking systemic solutions from the state and mainstream society.

She is the principal investigator of the NCN Preludium 21 project “Strategies for Achieving Agency in the Masculinized World of Business: A Sociological Analysis of Entrepreneurial Trajectories of Female Migrants in Poland”(2022/45/N/HS6/01241), funded by the National Science Centre, Poland. She also leads the IDUB CESS project “Business in a New Country: Strategies of Female Migrants and Entrepreneurial Support Infrastructure in Poland and Italy.”

Kseniya has collaborated with think tanks, non-governmental organizations, and social initiatives, including ODI, the Institute of Public Affairs, the Association for Legal Intervention, the Inicjatywa Dom Otwarty Foundation, and other organizations working in the field of human rights and social inclusion.
