dr Rizza Kaye C. Cases

Rizza Kaye C. Cases is an assistant professor at the Department of Sociology, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman. She obtained her PhD in Sociology and Social Research from the University of Trento, Italy in 2018. Her research interests include migration studies, sociology of health and illness, social network analysis, social capital, and relational and comparative sociology.

Her methodological works focus on the innovative applications of network methods in understanding migration processes and outcomes. While her previous works centre on Filipino migrants working in the care sectors of New York and London, her current research project examines Filipino labour migration in Central and Eastern Europe.

As a visiting scholar at the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR) of Mahidol University in Thailand, she is conducting a research project on mapping the labour migration of Filipino workers in Thailand as a case of South-South migration.

She is currently an Associate Editor of the Philippine Sociological Review and working on a special issue on ‘Sociology of Migration.’
